Client Testimonials

Lee's Summit Wildlife Trapper Tip of the Month:
What should I do if a rodent is living in my house?

Trust me. Rodents living inside your house are NOT pretty. If your house is infested, it means trouble. Rodents are like little devils. They will get on every single one of your nerves, so it is best to rid yourself of them as soon as you realize they are there. Don’t ever let it slide. You’ll regret it.

Damage they cause

The rodents are not going to live peacefully in your house like your pet. They will cause structural damage as well as pose a threat to the health of you and your loved ones.

Rodents chew. They will chew on anything and everything. They will chew on wires, walls, insulation, furniture, and whatnot. If they chew on a wire and expose it, it can start a fire. They will also damage your food reserves. Not only this, but their droppings are known to cause many diseases, whether you inhale the droppings or touch them. So it is best to stay away. Keeping all these points in mind, you ought to take action as soon as you find out the rodents might be nesting somewhere.

Extraction: Step 1 (Location)

It is necessary to get rid of rodents. For best results, it is recommended to get professional help, as those guys have been doing it for a long time and are familiar with the ways. It also reduces the risk of anything going wrong.

However, if you still want to do it yourself, then here’s what you should do first. If the nest of the rodent is in plain sight, then locating it won’t be a problem. But if it is not, then you’d have to follow the sound and smell of the rodent.

Extraction: Step 2 (Placing traps)

Once you DO know where the nests are, you should start working towards getting rid of the rodents. There are many different kinds of traps available. Snap traps kill the rodents immediately and painlessly, for the people who just want to get it over with. Live cage traps will trap the animal, and you’ll have to relocate it. Poison bait traps are also effective but bring a slow and painful death to the animal and are not recommended.

Place whatever trap you prefer in the pathway which the rodent uses. Make sure you use a bait the rodent will be inclined towards. Otherwise, the rodent will not pay attention. Check the traps regularly and don’t wait long before disposing of the rodent.

Extraction: Step 3 (Removal)

Once the rodent has been trapped, you have to remove it. This step requires utmost care. You’d have to be careful while getting rid of the live rodent or its dead body. Wear gloves and a mask while dealing with the rodent and its droppings. Relocate a live rodent. After they have been removed, clean the place with a disinfectant.
